2 people dead after fiery crash on I-70 near Topeka

Two people from Tennessee are dead after a fiery crash on I-70 early Thursday morning.

It happened just before 3:30 a.m. on I-70, east of West Union Rd. This is just west of Topeka.

A passenger car registered in Tennessee and a Missouri box truck were involved in the crash, according to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office. Both were traveling westbound and went off the road. The car then caught on fire.

Officials on scene told KSNT News two people in the passenger car died at the scene. The driver of the box truck was taken to a local hospital and is expected to be okay.
