GEARY CO., Kan. (KSNT) – One woman was killed and another seriously injured when the truck they were driving in collided with a semi-truck on U.S. Highway 77 Tuesday morning.
Kansas Highway Patrol reported that a Silverado pickup truck driven by Savannah Laudemann, 22, of Woodbine, Kan., was traveling eastbound on State Lake Road around 11:39 a.m.
As the truck entered U.S. 77, it was hit on the driver’s side by a semi-truck and was pushed into a ditch.
Her mother, Dawnette Laudemann, 44, was a passenger in the vehicle and sustained serious injuries.
Both women were taken to Geary Community Hospital, where Savannah died from her injuries.
The driver of the semi-truck was from out of state and did not receive any injuries in the accident.
Both lanes of traffic were shut down into the evening as troopers worked to investigate the crash. The road is now reopened.
