An arsonist set fire to a Topeka mobile home Monday morning, causing over $4,000 in damages.

Fire crews responded to a reported fire at 1900 NW Lyman Rd. around 3 a.m. They said they found smoke and flames coming from a bedroom window in the home, and quickly put it out.

Two people inside the home escaped without being hurt, and it did have a working smoke detector.

Investigators said someone intentionally set the bedroom on fire, and estimate they caused over $3,000 in damage to the home, and $1,000 in damage to belongings in the bedroom.
