Bishop Elementary School principal reaches settlement with administration

TOPEKA (KSNT) — Former Bishop Elementary School principal, Amanda Czechanski has reached a settlement with the Topeka Public School District.

Czechanski’s husband, Keith, let their supporters know through a Facebook post Thursday afternoon, that his wife has come to an agreement with the 501 Administration.

“Part of me is sorry to tell everyone that Mandy has accepted a settlement with the school district. The other part of me wishes we could take them through hell,” Czechanski writes. “There will be no need to go to the school board meeting tonight. We thank all of you for your support. Mandy and I are emotionally exhausted and are needing this to be over for our health and well-being. I know some of you will be unhappy with our decision. Not as much as us. But there is more at stake than that. Again, thank you all for your support. It means so much.”

The district suspended the Bishop Elementary School principal on January 29th. On May 5th, the board voted unanimously not to renew her contract.

Last Thursday, Czechanski and the board had a closed-door meeting to discuss the actions taken against her.

Czechanski had been selected last June to be the principal at the new elementary school that’s still under construction near Jardine Middle School.
