Officials at a local school district will gather for a special school board meeting after their superintendent was arrested for drunk driving.
Shawnee Heights Superintendent Martin Stessman was arrested Saturday night for drunk driving.
Kansas Highway Patrol troopers say they found Stessman on Highway 24 near the K-4 interchange after getting reports of an erratic driver.
He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail and posted bond about an hour later.
Shawnee Heights School Board held an emergency meeting on Sunday night to discuss the issue. Board members will meet again Thursday, April 11 for another meeting on the topic.
Stessman remains the district’s superintendent.
A district spokeswoman said the district takes the issue “very seriously.”
