Call for nominations: KSNT launches program honoring local people making a difference

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) - Do you have a friend, co-worker, relative, or maybe even an acquaintance who is making a difference in northeast Kansas?

At KSNT News, we know there are local people in the communities we cover who are making the world a better place, and we think it's time to reward them for going above and beyond.

That's why we've partnered with two Topeka businesses, Capitol Federal and FHLBank, to bring the Jefferson Awards to the area.

If that name sounds familiar, it's because you have probably heard of the prestigious awards that were started by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Sen. Robert Taft Jr. and Sam Beard.

Since 1972 the awards have been recognizing individuals that give their time and effort to improve their communities.

And they're hosted by the Jefferson Awards Foundation, which happens to be the country's longest standing organization dedicated to celebrating and honoring unsung heroes.

Nominating people is easy!

You start by going to this link HERE.

Fill in the name, address, and telephone number for you and your nominee. Tell us a short, compelling story about your nominee that distinguishes why they should be recognized. Make sure to include how they are making a difference in the lives of others, or in their local community. Then hit submit!

A committee of local leaders will review all applications and choose two winners.

Not only will the winners’ stories be highlighted on KSNT News, one of the 24 winners will get an all expense paid trip for them and a friend to Washington D.C. for the national awards banquet.

So don't wait! Let us know who is making a difference in your community, and nominate them now!
