Construction worker hit by truck in northwest Shawnee County

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – A construction worker was taken to a hospital after he was hit by a truck Monday morning.

Shawnee County Sheriff Brian Hill said one individual “sustained non-life-threatening injuries” and was taken to a Topeka hospital.

Just before 10 a.m. the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received a report of an accident in the 7900 block of NW 46th Street between a pedestrian and a pick-up truck.

A 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was traveling eastbound on NW 46th Street through a work zone when it collided with a construction worker.

A 23-year-old construction worker, from Topeka, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

The 72-year-old driver, from Topeka, did not sustain any injuries.

This investigation is ongoing.
