CoreFirst Bank donates $10,000 to local non-profit

A Topeka non-profit received $10,000 today thanks to the community.

CoreFirst bank started it’s new campaign, #BtheDifference, where they asked people to vote for their favorite non-profit in Topeka.

The bank decided to donate $10,000 to whoever got the most votes. The finalist were the Friends of Topeka Zoo, the Topeka dula Project, and Valeo.

Friends of Topeka Zoo had the most votes, winning the donation.

The executive director, Jared Bednar, said they are honored to receive the donation.

“Something like this is just a completely humbling experience,” Bednar said. “When you see all the people. They had over 18,500 votes. So that’s people from this community, from outside this community that’s actually showing support for the variety of non-profits here including ourselves.”

Friends of Topeka Zoo weren’t the only company to go home with a donation.

CoreFirst Bank donated $2,000 to The Topeka Dula Project and $1,000 to Valeo.
