Biographical Information: age, where from, etc.
I am 49 years old, 5th generation Kansan, went to school in Erie Kansas, raised to respect my elders and people in general. We said the pledge of allegiance to the flag every morning in school. I have a 13-year-old son whom I have raised alone since he was 10 months old. My parents My parents were married for 27 years and they raised us with strict rules but as long as we followed those rules we were given greater rewards. We went to Church on Sunday’s (still do) with Sunday School afterward. My father was in construction and my mother was in management both working hours that brought one home as the other one was leaving for work. We are a happy family, always had been, my parents eventually divorced because of money problems and as young adults we understood. I’m an honest person, I’ve been homeless, raised not poor but with a fixed income by both parents, I’ve had cancer and survived all of it and fought my way back up to this point in my life. I have a Ph.D. and three successful companies with the first one helping the homeless find jobs, the second company places them in our shelter or another shelter but we give them clothes, doctor appointments, job training, computer training and lessons on how to take care of themselves. My last company is a tree service, where we bring people who are homeless in and teach them a trade, they work, make money and eventually move out and have a full-time job with money coming in. We continue to monitor their success and make ourselves available to them for questions. Now, I want to take that experience and energy to Washington and where I can work with people to make this country (GREAT AGAIN?) but even better than what it already is. That means cleaning the muck out of the swamp and bringing in new people who will work together as Americans and not just party affiliations.
Position on the Economy and Taxes:
There is something profoundly wrong when the top one-tenth of one percent owns almost as much wealth as the bottom 90 percent. America now has more wealth and income inequality than any major developed country on earth, and the gap between the very rich and everyone else is wider than at any time since the 1920s. Make sure that family farmers and rural economies thrive; Expand support for young and beginning farmers; Produce an abundant and nutritious food supply; Establish an on-going regeneration of our soil. We have a responsibility to our economy to make sure it continues to thrive, with that being said it will be my honor to help make all that happen.
The issue of wealth and income inequality is the great moral issue of our time, it is the great economic issue of our time, and it is the great political issue of our time. Today, we live in the richest country in the history of the world, but that really means little because much of that wealth is controlled by a tiny handful of individuals. We have to make sure that taxes are fare across the board, if I pay a percentage of taxes in on my income, the wealthy should be doing the same.
Position on Immigration:
Ensure our border remains secure and protects local communities. Regulate future flows via a reformed visa system and reworked trade agreements. Dismantle inhumane deportation programs and private detention centers. We have a country filled with immigrants and they must be made welcome, yes, they need to be documented so we can be sure they are paying their fair share of taxes.
Position on National Security:
National Security is important to our safety here at home, While we must be relentless in combating terrorists who would do us harm, we cannot and should not be the policeman of the world, nor bear the burden of fighting terrorism alone. The United States should be part of an international coalition, led and sustained by nations in the region that have the means to protect themselves.
Position on Health Care:
Every man, woman, and child in our country should be able to access the health care they need regardless of their income, previous conditions; it is a right, not a privilege. Abortion is a woman’s choice, shouldn’t the father and grandparents of the child have rights also. I believe there is always another solution out there besides an abortion. My plan is to introduce a bill that works ACA and Medicare together without the need for supplemental insurance, eliminating the need for Medicaid and will fully fund the Medicare for all ideology.
Position on Agriculture:
Our agriculture industry is very important to our economy and we have to make sure that the farmers in this nation have the tools to do the job they survive on and raise their families with. We can’t go around playing with the lives of those who work in the agriculture industry losing them money and turn around offering Billions of dollars to make up for mistakes made by our administration. It does not make any sense to do it that way!
Highest Priority Issue in Office:
My highest priority, first of all, is to work with both sides of the aisle and present my bills and critiques to make sure they will work. We have to stop the division in this country and start working together as Americans, not adversaries.
We need to have a balanced budget, we cannot continue stealing from Peter to pay Paul. Despite huge advancements in technology and productivity, millions of Americans are working longer hours for lower wages. The real median income of male workers is $783 less than it was 42 years ago and Creating 1 million jobs for disadvantaged young Americans by investing $5.5 billion in a youth jobs program. Today, the youth unemployment rate is off the charts. We have got to end this tragedy by Increasing the federal minimum wage from $7.25 to $15 an hour by 2020. In this year 2018, no one who works 40 hours a week should be living in poverty.
Position on the change in Washington?
With a political campaign finance system that is corrupt and increasingly controlled by billionaires and special interests, I fear very much that, We the People will continue to suffer from the result we have to get rid of those who will not work with parties opposite of them. We need term limits set for the House, Senate and Supreme Court justices. We can no longer let Washington dictate to WE THE PEOPLE as to what we should be doing. Let the States have more control over their States and let Washington worry about the bigger problems that involve every State. Healthcare for all, Social Security, defense, education for all!
