On Tuesday afternoon firefighters battled a house fire in North Topeka.
Around 2 p.m. firefighters worked to contain flames at a house fire on the 300 block of NE Aspen Lane. They were able to quickly put out the fire.
Topeka Fire Battalion Chief Chad Longstaff said the fire started in the kitchen. No one was home when the flames broke out.
Firefighters were able to resuscitate a cat.
Investigators are still working to determine what started the fire.
