Topeka’s Helping Hands Humane Society will host a second pet adoption special in honor of Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who is a dog lover and a frequent pet adopter. Mahomes introduced Chiefs Kingdom to his latest adoptee: a pit bull terrier pup on Wednesday.

HHHS of Topeka said last weekend’s special resulted in 45 adoptions, which they called a rousing success. They plan to add another Chief’s standout, Travis Kelce’s number 87 jersey number to the adoption drive.

On Saturday, January 19 from 11:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday, January 20 from 1-5 p.m. the price will be $87 to adopt dogs 5 months to 6-years-old and $15 to adopt cats, kittens, and senior dogs. Mahomes wears the number 15 jersey.
