Kwik Shop hit in third robbery in 6 months

Police are investigating a robbery at a Central Topeka gas station by Washburn University.

It happened just after 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Kwik Shop on SW 17th St. and SW Washburn Ave. This is the third time the gas station has been robbed in six months. The last robbery there happened Dec. 20. The robbery before that was on July 30.

The clerk described the robber as:

  • A skinny white man in his mid-20s. 
  • Wearing a black hoodie, black stocking cap and a blue bandana covering his face.
  • Armed with a handgun.

He was last seen running away with money north of the business
