Local businesses honored at 2019 Small Business Awards

Local News

Local businesses were honored Tuesday afternoon at the Greater Topeka Partnership’s Small Business Awards.

Hazel Hill Chocolate took home the biggest award of the afternoon, Capital City Business of Distinction.

Owner Nick Xidis said they couldn’t have done it without the community’s support.

“When we started, we couldn’t even afford to finance making the stuff for their orders,” said Xidis. “We had to ask them to pay in advance for things just so we had enough money to make it. There’s so many generous people in this town who have been with us for years and years and made us successful.”

The awards consisted of seven categories based on business growth, creativity, longevity and contributions to the community.
