The Columbian Theatre is gearing up for a big performance this weekend.

This show is quite unique as many members of the cast and crew are related to each other.       “Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!”  That’s the motto of Mame Dennis, one of musical theatre’s all-time greatest heroes in this brassy, tuneful, hilarious and touching adapatation of Patrick Dennis’ bestseller, Auntie Mame.

This unforgettable classic musical centers on the irrepressibly eccentric Mame Dennis (Linda Haynes Uthoff), who lives a carefree life in 1920’s New York until she unexpectedly becomes the guardian to her 10-year-old nephew, Patrick (A. J. Kunz).  Rather than change her ways, Mame introduces Patrick to all the wonder of her wild, free spirit world while discovering the joy of having a family of her own.

The cast and crew of “Mame” is a group of dedicated, talented and persistent actors. Not only does this cast feel like family but for some, it is.  Libby Stratton, director, said, “This show is extremely special to me because my mom gets to be a part of it.”

“Mame” is a show full of spirit, humor and class that will delight all generations. This production is one you don’t want to miss. Get your tickets now! Performances are February 22-14, March 1-3, & 8-10. Tickets are on sale now for $20, with military/student discount for $15.
