Measles cases now reported in 19 states

Nearly a hundred new cases of the measles have been reported in the U.S. According to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 465 cases have been reported in 19 states. That’s up from 387 reports in 15 state last week.

According to the CDC, this is the second greatest number of cases reported in the country since the disease was eliminated back in 2000.

In states that are experiencing an outbreak, health officials are reporting a significant increase in the number of vaccinations given compared to last year. The CDC says the majority of the people who got measles were not vaccinated.

So far, Kansas is not among the states reporting measles cases.
