A beloved camp is delaying its reopening this week. Mission Creek Camp was supposed to have an open house on Saturday before opening on Sunday. Now, the camp is delaying that opening by one week.

Executive Director Ken Scroggs says the delays are caused by issues renovating the dining hall.

“We are redoing the entire kitchen. It’s quite expensive and we’ve just had some setbacks a little bit with what was supposed to be here and what was delivered,” said Scroggs.

Scroggs says the stove that was delivered runs on different gas than the kitchen. Waiting on that to be replaced has made other renovations in the dining hall fall behind.

This is the first time the camp is opening since Camp Daisy Hindman was closed in 2017.

Mission Creek Camp will open for an open house on Saturday, June 15 and camp will start on Sunday, June 16. Click here for more information on camp and pricing.
