Nebraska woman to be sentenced for deadly crash

Local News

A June 14 sentencing date has been set for a woman involved in a crash that killed three people.

Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller tells KSNT News Wednesday morning that Maria Perez-Marquez of Omaha entered a no contest plea last Friday.  She’s charged with one count of aggravated battery and three counts of vehicular homicide.  Her trial was to have started on May 1.

The crash happened in November of 2017 north of Holton on Highway 75 as Perez-Marquez was trying to pass another vehicle and hit an oncoming minivan carrying family members from Sabetha who were returning from a state championship football game.

The crash killed Carmen, Marlee and Stephen Ukele.
