Emergency crews reopened U.S. Highway 75 north of Holton after a head-on crash shut it down for nearly 3 hours.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported head-on crash between a Ford Fusion and a semi truck just before 6 a.m. The truck was traveling northbound while the Ford was traveling southbound near 286th Road when the two collided. The semi truck came to stop in the southbound lane, blocking the road. Sheriff Tim Morse said they are investigating whether alcohol contributed to the crash regarding the driver of the Ford.
The northbound lane of Highway 75 was reopened just before 9 a.m., and both lanes of traffic will now take turns using the single lane while crews work to remove the truck.
The driver of the Ford was taken to a Topeka hospital with injuries, while the truck driver and passenger had minor injuries.
