Photo Gallery: Topeka Police Department Mural Unveiling

The Topeka Police Department, in cooperation with ArtsConnect of Topeka, unveiled a new Mural that will be painted on the outside North wall of the Police Building at 4th and Kansas Ave. Michael Toombs, a community leader and advocate for young working artists in the Greater Kansas City area will head up the mural along with local artists C. Dylan Barker, Jordan Brooks, Oshara Meesha, Sara Myer, Andrea Nix, Jason Riedel, Robert Tapley Bustamante, Andy Valdivia, Woody Woodward and others. Sarah Fizell, executive director of ARTSConnect, said the project is meant to build bridges between the Police Department and public. Toombs collaborated with ArtsConnect and Brown v. Board to paint the Mural north of the Historic Brown v. Board Building that was completed in the summer of 2018.  The unveiling took place at the Topeka Police Department and the new Mural will be named The Common Ground. The project is expected to begin this summer.  Back to Local Snapshots.
