Police arrest 14-year-old carrying gun in Manhattan

Police arrested a teen carrying a gun Sunday night in Manhattan.

Riley County police responded to reported sightings of the 14-year-old male gunman near 17th Street and Poyntz Avenue around 10:45 p.m., spokeswoman Rachel Pate said.

The Collegian reports RCPD officers lined the campuses of K-State and Manhattan Christian College around 1 a.m., and they located the teen soon after. Officers took him into custody without incident on charges of criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, and criminal use of a weapon.

The teen is being held at the Geary County Detention Center at this time.
