People in north Topeka went without power for part of the day Wednesday.

Gina Penzig with Westar Energy said the outages happened around 12:00 p.m. Most of the outages occurred north of the river in north Topeka.

Penzig said a piece of equipment broke at a north Topeka substation, which is what caused the outage.

Crews were able to get power restored just before 2:00 p.m.
