MANHATTAN, Kan. (KSNT) – The Riley County Police Department asked residents Thursday morning to avoid the area in the 400 block of Leavenworth while officers respond to the threat of a stabbing.

When officers arrived at 8:14 a.m., they found a 34-year-old male with an apparent stab wound to his chest. The victim, in critical condition, was transported to Ascension Via Christi Hospital.

Although there is no perceived threat to the public, police are asking residents to avoid the area while they conduct an investigation Thursday morning.

Fifteen minutes before this incident, Riley County police advised residents to avoid the area in the 100 block of Bluemont Ave.

The two incidents are unrelated, according to RCPD.
