Riphahan sworn in as Shawnee County Commissioner

The Shawnee County Commission welcomed Bill Riphahn as its newest member Monday morning.

Riphahn’s first day as the commisioner representing the first district started with his swearing in ceremony. He was sworn in by Shawnee County District Judge Mark Braun with Riphahn’s wife Julie by his side.

Riphahn jumped right into the new job, saying the county has seen some positive changes, but says he wants to work harder to make futher improvements.

Riphahn says his work with the Shawnee County Parks and Recreation Departmentg for more than 30 years has prepared him to be successful at his new job.

Riphahn replaces long-time commissioner Shelly Buhler who will will continue as president of Hayden High School in Topeka.
