The Shawnee County Department of Corrections confirmed with KSNT News that Kansas Senator Vic Miller, a Topeka Democrat, was arrested Monday night for driving under the influence and inattentive driving.
Just before 11:00 p.m. Monday night, reports were made of a car in the ditch near I-70 and SE Carnahan Rd.
When Topeka Police arrived at the scene, they found a car by itself in the ditch.
When officers went up to the car, they found the driver, who was later identified as Vic Miller, inside.
After making sure he was not hurt, officers thought he may be under the influence.
Authorities investigated the crash as a DUI. Once that was complete, Miller was taken to Shawnee County Jail.
He was booked at 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning with charges of DUI and inattentive driving. He was released at 2:45 a.m. on bond.
KSNT News has attempted to reach out to Senator Miller, we have not heard back.
