LAWRENCE (KSNT) – Authorities have found an elderly couple from Lawrence after they went missing for more than 24 hours, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation Monday night.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office asked the KBI for help finding two people:

  • Russell “Red” N. Stevens, 76

The couple was driving Sunday from Wichita to an area of Douglas County northwest of Lawrence, but never returned home or reached out to family members, according to the KBI. It said around 10:15 p.m. that police found the pair in Nebraska in the area of North Platte.

The KBI said it has notified the Stevens’ relatives, who are coming to Nebraska to help them get back to Lawrence. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office thanked the public for helping to find the missing couple.
