TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – You’ve heard about “First Fridays,” now a new monthly event has been announced for the summer. It’s call Third Thursdays.

This themed food and beverage with charity component program will run in June, July, August and September of this year on the third Thursday of each month. This new after work gathering will help bring Topekans to the Kansas Expocentre grounds to enjoy local musicians with great food and beverages that will help raise money for a local non for profit.

“We created this new event not only to showcase the Kansas Expocentre, but to provide a place to enjoy great music and food while helping worthwhile causes for the residents of Topeka and Shawnee County,” announced Jeff Chabon, Expocentre General Manager.

The first Third Thursday on June 16th , benefitting Helping Hands Humane Society, will feature musician Tyler Gregory on the Budweiser stage. All Third Thursdays are free admission, free parking and pet-friendly.

“With the excitement of our upcoming renovations, Third Thursdays is just the beginning of our efforts to bring and keep more activity in our area,” concluded Chabon.

Corporate sponsors along with concessions will provide the revenue and the expenses will be minimal. The Kansas Expocentre says this event can also grow with a comedy show or music showcase in Heritage Hall in which the Third Thursday event would be the pre-party to a larger happening and revenue generator.

The dates for Third Thursdays are June 16, July 21, August 18 and September 15 and will begin at 5 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. at Heritage Hall.
