The Topeka Metro is wrapping a bus with the artwork from the recent Brown V. Board mural in honor of the 65th anniversary of the decision that ended school segregation.
Topeka Metro Director of Marketing and Communications Keri Renner said it’s a way to encourage people to go see the mural and museum in person.
“Part of this was so we could help advertise the mural for Artsconnect and Brown V. Board,” she said. “If you haven’t been over there to see it, it’s pretty amazing because it’s just beautiful.”
A $3,000 grant from ArtsConnect helped pay for the bus wrap. Topeka Metro is asking for other community sponsors to help them keep the bus wrapped for the next two years.
The bus will be used in Brown V. Board events this month, including three free public arts bus tours and four free public history bus tours. For information about the Brown V. Board 65th anniversary events click here.
