Topeka man arrested for harboring child appears in court

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) - A Topeka man arrested in Colorado for harboring a child last month appeared in front of a judge this morning.

Michael Fitzgerald appeared on video camera from the Shawnee County jail in front of Judge Jason Geier.

Fitzgerald was charged with Aggravated Interference with Parental Custody, and Contributing to a Child's Misconduct, both felonies.

He was found in Cortez, Colorado with 14-year-old Chloe Hunnicut in late January.

His bond was set at $250,000. If he did post bond, he would be required to have GPS monitoring and could not have contact with any minor.

He was given a court appointed attorney.

Fitzgerald's next court date will be February 21 at 2:30 pm.
