Topeka police are cracking down on a recent string of criminal damage cases in the capital city.
Topeka Police Department Spokeswoman Gretchen Koenen reported there have been 14 reported cases of car windows being shot out in the last 24 hours. Now, they have increased enforcement in the areas around the incidents.
“[We are] dedicating particular units to catching the responsible criminals,” Koenen said.
Shawnee County Crime Stoppers has also posted a $2,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in these criminal damage cases.
Koenen requested anyone who has been a victim of a criminal damage incident to report it to the TPD.
“We are asking the public to remain vigilant and if you see something, say something,” Koenen said.
