Topeka police: Armed robbery is false alarm

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Police arrived on scene at a reported Friday evening armed robbery in east Topeka to find it was a false alarm.

Officers headed to the scene around 6:15 p.m. in the shopping center at Southeast 21st Street and Virginia Avenue, according to a Shawnee County dispatcher. However, a Topeka Police Department watch commander said around 7:30 that the incident was no longer being investigated as an armed robbery.

They did not have word on the reporting party or alleged suspect.
