TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – A 2-year-old girl was killed after an animal attack on Saturday night.

According to Topeka Police Lt. Bryan Wheeles, the 2-year-old girl was reported missing around 8 p.m. in the 800 block of S.W. Carnahan.

Relatives identified the little girl as Piper Dunbar.

She was found dead in the yard of her home after police arrived.

Investigators determined she was attacked, possibly, by two dogs. Police did not say if the dogs were owned by the family or the breed of dog.

“This tragic incident represents no risk to the public at large,” Wheeles said in his release. “The child and animals were localized within the fenced yard area of the involved residence.”

Animal Control was called to the house and seized the dogs. Police did not say what will happen to the animals.
