Almost two weeks after being attacked by a tiger at the Topeka Zoo, keeper Kristyn Hayden-Ortega has been released from the hospital and is continuing her recovery in a rehab facility according to zoo director Brendan Wiley.

Hayden-Ortega suffered scratches and punctures to her head, neck, back, and arm as a result of the attack.

Wiley said they determined the tiger was able to gain access to where Hayden-Ortega was due to a door being left open that separates the two tiger enclosures.

However, they still don’t know why the door was left open.
