TOPEKA (KSNT) – Emergency workers are at the scene of a truck crash on the Kansas Turnpike in south Topeka.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), a man was driving around the ramp, stepped on the gas to increase speed, hit a patch of water on the road and slid off into the ditch. The driver was transported to a local hospital after sustaining minor injuries.

A KSNT 27 News reporter at the scene found a truck in a nearby ditch with heavy damage to its roof. A tow truck is attempting to move the truck out of the ditch.

The KHP says the ramp remained open to traffic, and the scene is cleared.
