VALLEY FALLS, Kan. (KSNT) – The Kansas Highway Patrol has released the name of the 24-year-old Atchison woman who was killed in a fatal car crash in Jefferson county early Wednesday morning.
Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig tells KSNT News the accident happened around 7:30 a.m., about two miles north of Valley Falls on K-4 Highway.
KHP says Hannah N. Lager died after her car collided with an oncoming semi-tractor trailer. Lager was traveling south on K-4 highway when she had passed a vehicle and tried to merge back into her lane, but lost control and was hit by the oncoming truck.
The driver of the semi-tractor trailer has been identified as 75-year-old Warren E. Hollis of Valley Falls. Hollis was taken to a local hospital for a possible injury.
According to the Valley Falls high school wesbite, Lager was a Spanish teacher there. She was also a Spanish teacher at Jefferson County North high school, according to their website.
If you’d like to help the family get through this difficult time, Benedictine College has set up a fund that will pass money directly to the Lager family.
You can donate to that fund here, or you can bring a check or cash to the third floor business office of St. Benedict Hall at Benedictine College.
