Overland Station hosted a special tribute to local veterans on Veterans’ Day.
Dozens gathered to hear from servicemen and to honor two veterans with quilts.
Edward Schwerdt was one of those honored. Hes 94 years old and a World War II veteran.
Schwerdt said he’s just thankful that he’s one of the servicemen who made it home.
“When you think back, there are so many of them that didn’t come back to do this, to be thankful to all of the people in the United States that made this day possible for everyone,” Schwerdt said.
He planned to spend the rest of his day taking advantage of one of the local restaurants offering free meals for vets.
