Man charged for shooting death of Topeka man

A 28-year-old man has been charged in the shooting death of a Topeka man.

An amended complaint against Daniel Munoz was filed following the death of Ramon Martinez, 25 of Topeka, according to Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay. 

Munoz is being charged for murder in the first degree and criminal in possession of a weapon.

On the morning of June 9, 2018, Topeka police responded to the area of 429 SE Lafayette where two shooting victims, including Martinez and another man identified as Pierce Ragsdale, were located and transported to local hospitals. 

Martinez died from his injuries this past weekend. 

Police said the two victims and Munoz knew each other. 

Munoz has a bond set at $500,000 at the Shawnee County jail. 

The case is set for a scheduling docket on June 21 at 2:30 p.m. 

The Topeka Police Department is handling the investigation of this case.
