Man convicted for Topeka kidnapping


A man was convicted for a 2017 kidnapping of his ex-girlfriend in Topeka.

Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay announced the conviction of Jesse J. Jackson Jr. on Friday.

The incident happened on May 20, 2017, where Jackson held his ex-girlfriend against her will.

She was able to get out of his moving vehicle and find people nearby that could help her.

Jackson Jr. was convicted of three felonies: Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Battery, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

He will be sentenced on May 3. Jackson could be facing between 12 and 54 years in prison.
