Man found dead in central Topeka identified


TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Topeka police have named the man found dead in central Topeka Saturday morning as 44-year-old Kenneth Leray Vetaw.

Police say Vetaw was shot. The official cause of death will later be determined after an autopsy.

Topeka police report that a neighbor in the area found Vetaw’s body and called police. Authorities arrived on the scene just after 8:00 a.m. and found the man dead.

Police say the man was injured in the 1400 block of Southwest Harrison and then walked toward 15th St. and Southwest Blvd. where police found his body.

Detectives are currently investigating and still gathering information surrounding what happened.
