A Lawrence man has died following an accident at the Jefferson County landfill Friday morning.

Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Herrig told KSNT News it happened around 7:15 a.m. at the landfill which is located near the Douglas/Jefferson County line along Highway 24.  Herrig says the Jefferson County man was crushed between a tractor trailer and a piece of equipment called a “tipper” which is used to unload trash into the landfill.
