A local organization is recognizing volunteers for their work in our community.
Wes Dain has been volunteering with Meals on Wheels for 13 years.
Friday, he was recognized as the Karl and Irene Reuter award winner for going above and beyond.
Dain said the people he delivers meals to get to become like family.
He got started with the organization when he told his wife he was bored and needed something to do.
She saw an ad in the paper asking for volunteers and the rest is history.
“I don’t get bored doing meals on wheels, and people appreciate it,’ said Dain. “If I happen to miss going to some of them, some of them call the office to find out where I’m at.”
Dain said what makes it easy to keep going is the people he’s serving.
Meals on wheels is looking for more delivery drivers.
