Miranda Miller, the mother of young Wichita boy whose body was found encased in concrete, was sentenced to 25 years behind bars for the murder of her son.
Back in November, Miller pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and child abuse of 3-year-old Evan Brewer.
At the sentencing hearing, several members of Evan’s family delivered impact statements to court.
Evan’s aunt, Carol Brewer, delivered an emotional statement.
“You didn’t just watch. You took part. I want you to feel pain just like he did,” she said. “All of our life, we were told to forgive, but this time, I won’t.”
Miranda Miller also delivered a statement while crying.
“I would like to apologize for my choices, and my actions that have brought us here today,” Miller said. “In the end, I failed as a mother to protect my child.”
Miller’s boyfriend at the time, Stephen Bodine, was convicted of murder and sentenced to more than 100 years in prison.
