A slew of storms and tornadoes swept through Northeastern Kansas this evening, damaging multiple homes and downing power lines.
The first of the few tornadoes appeared near Abilene around 5 p.m and not long after, one was spotted north of Shawnee County near the Silver Lake area.
Multiple tornadoes were reported in Nemaha County as well, as Nemaha Co. Emergency Manager, Russell Lierz, said that “three or four” homes in the area received damage this evening.
In addition, a power line east of Seneca on Hwy. 36 was knocked down, forcing the closure of P road for an hour and a half.
Lierz said that before traveling into Nebraska, the tornado was on the ground for 6 miles.
While multiple homes received damage from the tornadoes, no injuries were reported.
