Topeka police have announced their newest recruit finally has a name. The department’s new police dog will be called “Rebo.”
Last month the police department created a competition where people could submit name suggestions for the new pup.
Friday, Rebo was announced as the winner.
Charles Bowman submitted the name.
He retired from the Topeka Police Department in 1987. Bowman was the department’s first K-9 unit officer and helped start the unit in the 1960’s.
Bowman said Rebo has a special meaning for him.
It combines the first two letters of his very first police dog’s name, Rebble, and the letters from his own last name, Bowman.
