One killed in Jefferson County crash, US 59 re-opened

The Kansas Highway Patrol is confirming one person has died in a crash this afternoon in rural Jefferson County on US 59 highway and 62nd street south of Oskaloosa. The Highway Patrol said that area between 62 and 54th streets was   shut down due to the crash that happened shortly before 3 p.m. The KHP says the Highway was reopened at about 5:30 p.m. Friday evening.

The crash occurred between a Ford F-150 pick-up and a car. The Sheriffs says two people were transported to the hospital, in unknown conditions. He says weather could have played a part. Authorities said the driver of the maroon vehicle was killed, and two passengers in the pick-up truck were transported to Topeka hospitals.
