One person taken to the hospital after house fire in Manhattan


The Manhattan Fire Department responded to a home on South 16th St. just before 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

When crews arrived they found smoke coming from the back of the building. The fire was put out within five minutes of firefighters arriving.

One person was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. 

People were on the first floor of the home when the fire happened. Nobody was in the basement. The American Red Cross was called to help them.

There is around $5,000 worth of damage to the structure and about $5,000 lost in contents. The property owner is listed as I-70 Properties LLC, which the resident agent is listed as Roger Seymour of Manhattan.

The cause is under investigation. The scene was clear before 6:30 p.m.
