The Topeka Police Department is asking for the public’s help after a burglar made off with over 30 firearms Tuesday evening.

Officers responded to a burglary call Wednesday morning at a home in the 1800 block of Southwest Fairlawn Road. After speaking with the victim, police said they discovered at least one suspect broke in the evening before and stole over 30 pistols, rifles and shotguns.

TPD spokeswoman Gretchen Koenen said this incident is a reminder of the importance of properly securing firearms at home.

“Anytime even a single firearm is stolen, there is concern that the firearm could end up in the hands of a criminal and be used to commit a crime,” Koenen said.

Anyone with information on this burglary is asked to call investigators at 785-368-9400.
