Kansas was admitted to the Union on January 29th, 1861. Today Kansas celebrates it’s 159th Birthday. The Kansas Museum of History, 6425 SW 6th Ave., held an open house in celebration of Kansas Day. Visitors enjoyed a free admission, pottery making, Civil War Games, Decoding Kansas Geography and more. Kansas Lt. Governor Lynn Rogers gave a talk on the History of Kansas and Dennis Rogers, a Navajo Indian and multicultural educator from Topeka performed a Native American dance.
