Plans to create affordable Salina to Manhattan bus route

News

Traveling to the little apple is about to get easier for some people in Kansas.

Some groups and organization are working on getting a fixed bus route that goes from Salina to Manhattan. There would be four round trips a day.

It’s not a done deal yet, but officials are planning to make stops in smaller communities like Abilene, Chapman, and Junction City. Each stop would cost a dollar making a one way trip from Salina to Manhattan cost only $4.

K-State student Joseph Morse said that would be more cost efficient for him.

“Gas, especially when it’s expensive, it adds up and so if there’s a cheaper option, that will be beneficial to me,” Morse said.

Transit officials said the route will cost $300,000. They’re currently looking for more partnerships and stakeholders to hopefully begin the routes in August.
