Prairie Band Casino and Resort is celebrating its 21st anniversary this month after years of renovations.
Just 21-years-ago, the Prairie Band Casino and Resort didn’t look the way it does today. With the addition of more hotel rooms, and a bigger casino, entertainment in Northeast Kansas was changed.
The sound of the slot machines is one thing that draws people to the Casino each week. But it’s not just people who gamble that enjoy the casino and resort.
“The different kinds of entertainment that we offer here,” said Director of Marketing, John Tuckwin. “The restaurants, the hotel. There’s just something for everyone here.”
Since 1998, Prairie Band has worked to bring all kinds of people to the area. At the time, fun and entertainment for the weekend was only in Topeka.
In the last 21 years they’ve added more than 190 hotel rooms, more than 20 gambling tables, a golf course and restaurants. Most recently, the casino renovated its look, and added a coffee bar to the main lobby.
The casino is also making a positive impact for the community.
“The Prairie Band Casino and Resort has provided a number of jobs,” said General Manager Bill Marsh. “And improved the economy in the surrounding areas over the past 21 years.”
The casino’s goal is to be the entertainment destination of Northeast Kan. And to help a few lucky people strike it rich.
The casino plans to keep renovating in the next year. In April of 2019, a new bar and grill will be built. As well as a new parking garage, an indoor and outdoor pool will be coming in 2020.
