The Topeka Red Kettle Campaign surpassed its $205,000 goal by more than a thousand dollars this past season, which is good news for the Salvation Army and the community it serves, according to officials.

The final kettle total was $206,095. The money raised between November 19 through December 24 will go toward community meals, a food bank, rent and utility assistance, and other social services provided by the Topeka Salvation Army.

Salvation Army Major Brian Burkett said the organization is “humbled by the support.” Burkett said the kettle ringing drive will help the organization provide support for more of those who are struggling throughout the year.
